Your last paragraph should send a strong caution.
The club I was in in Texas became over ran with performance people and it was
impossible for the very few conformation people to go forward with anything.
The current president of that club owns a mixed breed dog she does performance
with....nice for a GSD club.
Not saying all venues should not be represented on our board, but you have to
proceed with caution....

There are enough good people to vote for, and if you don't know what they will
do on the board, don't vote for them. When the performance people outnumber us,
they will run the club. That is how a democracy works.
