Dania: Thank you very much for your response to the list. As in typical fashion, you are concise as you can be with the facts of the situation and explain things as you see it. I also personally have been involved in many RFPs and bid contracts. While there are usual procedures that business people use during the negotiation phase of these bid contracts, it is not uncommon that the vendors who get the job do not deliver satisfactorily. I agree with Dania, in most cases this is a DIRECT RESULT of miscommunication of service needed and/or expectation on the part of the CUSTOMER. In other words, just because you've done it over and over again with one vendor, when you're using a new vendor, every dot must be dotted and every "T" must be crossed to insure that the vendor is given the opportunity to do the job as you expect. I can not even remotely imagine that any vendor would want to take on a job and do it shabbily, at the risk of their reputation being ruined; especially in this day of swift communication. In this particular case, was the vendor given the ALL of the appropriate parameters before they submitted their bid? I keep hearing on the list that this vendor just "appeared" with a bid. If that's the case, how did they know what specifics they were they were bidding on? Who was the contact person they got this information from and was this the same person who gave all the other companies who submitted bids and was the information the same for all companies? Reading between the lines from the posts of the "people in the know" it leads me to believe that they are trying to PIN this job being botched on someone who happened to speak with this vendor at the National last year... WRONG FOLKS... In the format of this club, the decision to go with this vendor needs to be laid at the feet of the entire board. Sad to say, if you guys accept the shovels of mushroom fodder fed to you instead of demanding for all the facts prior to making a decision (in the form of paperwork with the actual bids in front of you), then you're just as much to blame as the fodder feeders. Now... there was one other thing in Dania's post that really intrigued me. "This has been the nastiest, ugliest election I have ever witnessed and the taste in my mouth is getting much too sour." I totally agree. I can not believe the ridiculous low levels this election has sunk to on the part of the power mongers and their marionettes. But I'm going to stop this post now.
