As usual I do agree with Ed, but not completely. I do think John Bemont would
be a fantastic president for us, but I don't know who else is running. Even he
has not been announced. Now, besides getting a great leader, it will make Ed
happy as he has never been on the board before.
But, I would urge everyone to vote for who will do the best for the club, the
members and the breed. I don't care if they have been on the board before, if
they are short, tall, bald, or even a lawyer. Pick the best person for the
job. Voting is important since a lot of members vote for names they recognize,
rather than who they know.
That is where I agree with Ed. Think about your vote and if you don't know,
ask someone. I don't agree to just vote for someone because they haven't been
on the board. I can name about ten people I would not want as a board member,
(I would be number one), and pick the best person for the job. Use no other
issue in voting.

Dear GSDCA Member, like you I am a member of the GSDCA. I have been a
member for the better part of thirty years. About ten years ago I ran for board
of directors and was soundly defeated. Because my views on most things are a
bit extreme its perhaps a good thing I lost that election. Last January I had
decided I would end my relationship with the club for irreconcilable
differences , a friendly divorce so to speak. The structure of the board in my
opinion sets up an environment where the same group of people control the club
for many many years. However, much to my surprise a member decided that she
wanted to continue hearing my voice on issues involving the GSDCA, so she paid
my membership dues ( thank you Penny for saving the marriage? lol) so here I
am! We have a very important election coming soon. I don't know all the
candidates but when I see them I'll know exactly who will win. That's right, I
can predict the outcome without any skill at all! And if you've been in this
club ten years or longer you too can predict the winners! I had a "term" ( no
pun intended) I coined for these repeat winners but I promised I'd stop saying
it on this list. I am asking you when you vote to give back this club to the
membership! Cast your vote for some one who has not been on the board for over
ten years. In nature organisms that don't change or adapt DIE! I sure hope this
does NOT happen to the GSDCA. In closing thank you for reading this letter and
remember this one last thing, if you do what you've always done, you'll get
what you've always got!
