I need to gather some information. Does anyone have any acquaintances who own
de-barked dogs - any breed - that chose that procedure as a last resort when
training, bark collars, or confinement failed to quiet the dog? What about
handlers or breeders - particularly with small breeds like Shelties, Finnish
Spitz, or other vocal breeds that opt for de-barking as an alternative to shock
collars, screaming at the dog, using the hose, or whatever?
A draft bill is in the works that could send you to prison for up to 5 years
and $2500 fine if you have your dog de-barked in that state - even by a
licensed vet. I need examples that I can use to refute this bill - no names
will be given - perhaps only mentioning city/state. I need breed, reason the
dog was de-barked, and your satisfaction with the procedure. Things like was
your dog in pain after the surgery, did he seem depressed that he couldn't be
heard, did the de-barking fail - as in did the vocal cords grow back?
