As I understand it, from what I have been told, when Tom and Viv bought
theirs, there were only 10 orders for films from Bobbie for the National. It
seems that all money paid at the show was given to the parent club, and nothing
has been paid to him.
He agreed to give up 30% of the income to the parent club, and the parent club
wants all payments made through them. Since our club is run by a rather large
committee, it is a shame that Bobbie and Sandy have to work all week, and then
wait for who knows when to get anything.
I would urge everyone to buy the tapes, (see how old I am), and also contact
your board members and ask them to help expedite payment to Bobbie and Sandy.
I suggested when the Club decided to take 30% of all the films that Bobbie
raise the cost of taking, copying, shipping and arranging to get them to us. He
declined to do that. They are still the same bargain they have been for years.
We used to pay Pace to take the video. Then we hired a gentleman from Canada.
Both of them stopped doing this, even though they were being paid. The Club
declined streaming video this year, and all we have left is Bobbie.
Bobbie has told me he won't be back to film next year, (may age again, it is
video and discs). We can try to change his mind, but to do that we need to buy
the videos, urge the club to send him his share, 70% of any payments, and to
recognize the value of having him available.
I keep thinking about losing Gail Sprock for the Review, (thankfully we have
Susan to take over). We had Cappy and Gloria for the ROMs, but found another
to take it over. We just lost Liz for the Red Book, but hopefully Cindy will
fill in. We will lose Frank as president, but someone else will try to fill
those big shoes. But, no one is going to replace Bobbie, and we need to realize
that. I loved what Linda did, but that is after it is over.
I am going to buy a set of videos, and I will be sure the money is paid. We
need to act on this, it is something that is too valuable to lose.
