This is what I am trying to do.... 3 sites... We rotate. We make each
site better because we understand them. We sign contracts.
Unfortunately, we can't get Perry any more as contract was not signed
with them.

I like the idea of one site for the Nationals, centrally located year
after year.....but that is a selfish thought since it would be closest for me.
An unselfish idea - Why can't we just have 3 sites that we use on a
rotating schedule year after year. If for some reason one of the sites is a
constant failure, then we change that location and try a new site, but
otherwise we only use 3 sites. Perry GA and St Louis would make up the East
and Central....not sure about the West. This way everyone becomes familar with
each of the sites, which in the long run makes traveling that much easier.

is a great time to fly. The planes are not full. I had two large plans the
problem was if there weren't enough people they canceled the flights. My guess
is that the people who want to show dogs will be driving and the spectators
will be flying. With that in mind the nationals that are held in the colder
climates need to be early Oct and the nationals held in the southern warmer
climates can be held in Nov.
What was the average cost of flying a dog excess baggage? I was over
weight with the cameras and printers. They charged me 75.00 each way for being
20 lbs over the limit.

How many people drove to the national? I didn't attend this year but
did go to the NASS in Saint Louis. this past week. I talked to 3 groups of
people that drove from Oregon to the WDA show. They did it in 36 hours straight
driving. It was the only way the could get there with their dogs. I believe
each group traveled with at least 3 dogs. How many of you are willing to drive
40 hrs one way to a national?

Perry was a good site...but so was Albany. Stalls, and green grass
everywhere.
Any time we have stalls we will have dust from the shavings and the
dirt. I
didn't notice the dust this year but I also don't have a sensitivity to
dust
as many do.
That said...I am sensitive to those that do but where do we draw the
line?
Do we make the National site the best for the many or the best for those
with dust allergies? Not being snide...but asking a serious question.
At this past Board meeting in St. Louis...I sat close to newly elected
Board
member Bart Bartly. When the Springfield Ohio site was mentioned...he
stated
it was...and this may be a paraphrase so I won't quote him...It was the
best
site for a dog show he'd seen. Joan found this show site for us and
after
looking at it...I was impressed. I went out on the Sunday I was leaving
just
so I could say I'd seen it because I couldn't stay for the Monday tour.

to THIS Board member so I can become a hero.

PS...Our 1st National was the Phoenix show and we were in awe there were
that many GSD's, folks, and owners. It was 110 during the day and the
sweat
evaporated offa ya before it could run down your nose. Good things and
bad
things to be sure.
