Yes, there are several airports within short driving distance. I will not fly
or
let my dogs, again someone else is in charge not the person that owns the
dog. So when those that worry about dogs in crates at the Purina Farm,
just think of all the dogs that have been lost at airports. I listen to all
the complaints but read them every year regardless of where the
National is held. If I owned a Show Dog I would love having it at
the Purina Farm as I mentioned before it is a great advertisement
for the breed with all the visitors. I am going this year and driving
8 hours and would love to take my GSD but he will be 11 years this
month and not a show dog. He has been going to TN which is
much farther for me to visit my son and family. Before I got my SUV
having only 2 trucks and 2 cars I use to rent a SUV which the crate
fitted fine and he traveled in the largest one.

My horse club decided to have their Nationals in Oklahoma City,
OK years ago and it has been there since 1995. Try hauling a horse
or several horses across country in trailer to OK as trainers and owners
do each year. It is video streamed for free with everyone not able to make
it to the show. However, it does have a bigger following for ads, sponsors,
etc.

Clubs try to put events in the center of the country where people and dogs are
and Purina Farm is very close to that is it not?

 The dogs for the
World Trial were flying in from all overthe world - trips
 that topk MANY MANY
 Hours and they had to
land at an International AIrport.  Big difference than
 getting to a National
 within your
borders.  They drive all over Europe to get to the shows in
 Europe and nobody
 complains.

You can fly to KC (great
airport to get in and out of easily with people or people
 and animals) or
 CHicago and drive 3.5 hours
 to Purina.

 Purina is used
by lots of other LARGE breeds for their National: Rhodesian
 Ridgebacks, Great
 Pyrs to name just two.
