I have never had a tattoo be readable after a year if done as a puppy. Shelters
do not check for tattoos. Most people do not know where to look to find info on
a tattoo number. Most of the public knows about microchips now. I chip and
register the number on all pups in litters I bred before they go home. Have
never had one migrate or cause a problem. Even the Schutzhund people are going

A Tattoo in the ear properly done last forever. A tattoo can last
86 or more years on a human never to move. Microchip can move into another
part of the body,
cause cancer in some cases and is not easy to read if you do not have the proper
equipment. I know of too many dogs that were destroyed in Shelters with a
microchip as they did not
