I decided today was a great day for a hike up behind Boulder. (That's some of
the Eastern Side of the Rockies for you out of staters ;-). I figured a
couple of miles would be in celebration of all of us "around" 70 people. Only
thing, the county hiking map was a bit blurred and the .4, .5 sections of the
trail were a bit off. (1.4!, 1.5!), so after hiking up 2.6 miles (straight
up, over rocks, scary edge trails), Yo and I found that the cut-off trail was
blocked and we had to go UP to go DOWN. Yo would actually stop and
contemplate which way to go UP and/or DOWN, (when we finally got to the trail
that led
back). 5.6 miles, guys, and I'm still standing....well, sitting, and soon to
be couching!
It was a beautiful Rockies view, pines, mountain streams, wildflowers,
wild roses, the "HUFF" of a bear (scared the c**p out of me!). I was amazed
when I got to the UP before the DOWN how high I was, and what an outstandingly
breathtaking country this is.
