If the owners knew the dog was dying, couldn't they be have been charged with
animal cruelty? That is just awful and inhumane.

Subject: [ SHOWGSD-L ] An old dog died last night
Last night my neighbor's old German Shepherd died as she had lived, alone on a
chain. Perhaps she had some fun barking at my dogs running around free in the
back yard, or maybe she looked at them longingly, wondering why she couldn't
run
around in her back yard and perhaps play with her people's other dog, also
chained, on the other side of the yard. She was not a friendly dog, except with
her family. While they were out doing their Wednesday thing, I wanted to go
over
there and pet her as she passed, but I was not sure if she would welcome me. So
I stayed near her on my side of the fence and talked to her until she passed. I
told her she was beautiful and that she was a good dog and that she shouldn't
be
afraid, that it was going to be ok and that she was going to a better place. I
was there when she breathed her last and I shed tears for her. I don't know if
it helped her or not but I couldn't just leave her. She is free now and she
will
still be
waiting for her family at the rainbow bridge.
