Not saying anyone is wrong here but you're mixing apples and oranges. Lassie
was a fictional character - a boy and his dog story. The dogs who "played"
Lassie were trained animal actors and Yes, they were all males! Rin Tin Tin
was a REAL dog, imported after WWI. Totally different. Oh, and for those of
you who are old enough to have read the "original" Lassie was a TRI COLOR, NOT
your run of the mill sable/white as portraited in all the movies and TV shows.
Should a descendant play him?? Only if the training is there to truly represent
the working dog the German's bred for in the original!
