This paragraph was posted on pet-law after a thread about a woman who  
was forced to give up her kennel of Aussies.  Evidently (and I wasn't  
there!), she advertised for help in cleaning up a flooded kennel area,  
and instead, the AC came.  W/out discussing the particulars of THAT  
case, look at this great idea:

"I can't help but think that Kennel Assistance would make a stellar
committee in every kennel club, State Federation, Professional Pets
club, etc. That committee could keep the names of current club members
who would be available to volunteer not only for other club members,
but others who aren't in the club. That way, an elderly kennel owner
could come directly to the dog world for help, as we aren't likely to
turn them in, but could clean up the kennel, the dogs, help to re-home
the dogs, etc, and also get the kennel owner info about state regs, if
necessary, if they want to continue running their operation. Another
function of the Kennel Assistance Committee could be to step in to
provide back up in the event of a family emergency, vacation, any of
the normal life occurances that require that we go away from home for
an extended time. Also, a list of potential permanent staff members
could be kept, like a referral system for within the professional
kennel system. Perhaps that service would cost extra, on top of club
dues, but there is no reason in the world that we can't "police" our
own, help our own, and keep the crazies away."
