Many of the old "Animal Welfare" organizations have been infiltrated and
taken over by the ARO philosophies and personnel. HSUS is a prime example.
Wayne Pacelle (the current CEO of HSUS) began as a member of the ARO group
Fund For Animals and last year FFA became part of the HSUS as did Doris Day
Animal League. Many of the current HSUS people are past PETA members, too.
The following is a quote re Animal Welfare and Animals Rights...from the
1992 edition of "Animals Agenda's" (an ARO publication) "As long as humans
have rights and animals do not...as in the case of the animal welfarist
framework...non humans will lose when their interests conflict with human
interests. Thus...animal welfare reforms...by their very nature, can only
serve to retard the pace at which "animal rights" goals can be achieved."
Just because an organization has shown past association with Animal Welfare
does not mean they continue to ascribe to the same tenets.
When Laurie Pruett and I attended the NAIA Conference in Vancouver WA last
month, we were both amazed at the number of groups who considered HSUS their
friends even though they were directly opposed to pet ownership. $ is the
bottom line and HSUS is financing areas WE should be financing...like
training Animal Control Officers and teaching Responsible Pet Ownership
instead of Mandatory Spay & Neuter. The ARO minions have put ARO foxes in
our hen houses and that must change.
