I can live with the 'no wood'...... or it would have been OK to keep the
first place
plaque for the winners of a class.

What I do NOT understand is why Clubs will be forced to host an Amateur
Futurity??
How can that be forced on a Club when that is extra time, workers, and
expense for
a hosting Club??
I've never understood why we couldn't just insert an Amateur CLASS in the
Futurity
and an Amateur CLASS in the Maturity and that's IT. Too Simple??
No age specifications....just an extra class. No extra judge, or show,
or expense or
extra time and no complicated hardship on a Club......just one extra class
for Fut / Mat.
for Amateurs with no Professional handlers......no matter WHO owns the
dog. Simple!!
If you win......you compete in winners with all the others. Please,
not have Clubs have
to put on a whole extra show ...........

The futurities are suppose to be about something special. They are not
just a match, they are about breeding programs and rewarding those who
support them. To take any more away from them and all the extra it costs to
support a futurity, I disagree with strongly.

And I agree with supporting an Amateur class, always have. It is the way
to go. Clubs have enough expenses now doing what they do. We always do a
sanction match with our club because we get credit on our compliance with
AKC for doing that. There have been regions in the past that have had NO
BIDS for a futurity and a club has been contacted to hold one. You further
put a mandatory AF with that...you are going to get less bids.

I was on the futurity committee this year but was not given a chance to
have input on these ideas, and I would not have supported either of the above
decisions.

by the way, if any on the committee has the annual report given at the
national, could you send me a copy??
