I have to agree with Evan....Surprise. The only way to learn is get your butt
kicked over and over. Watch and learn/ I handled for 5 years before I got my
first point on a dog. Then got a good one and finshed her. It was always
enjoyable because of the people, but then became fun just knowing you always
had a chance it u had a good dog.
BobI remember when I started to show dogs, I got in there with the "Big Boys"
and got my ass kicked regularly. I couldn't win anything, but I watched and
learned.

I didn't like this from the start. I remember when I started to show dogs, I
got in there with the "Big Boys" and got my ass kicked regularly. I couldn't
win anything, but I watched and learned.
Then we bred a better dog/bitch combination, Dragon Slayer and Destiny. I
had won some before them, but they made me realize if you want to handle, you
had best compete with the best or you won't learn.
I don't mind the amateur as far as giving someone a chance to have fun, but
they can have even more fun by competing with the best. What I did object to,
and still do, is taking an hour and a half to judge three entries.
I would just give it up as we did the AKC class, and some day perhaps the
long coat class. Everyone should compete on the same grounds, and you will
find if you have the better dogs, you will win. I did, and I sure was steadily
out handled.

the Futurity....and ONE AMATEUR CLASS into the Maturity as people wanted an
Amateur class.
SAME Futurity, same Judge, same Maturity, same judge....just ONE class for
Futurity and ONE
for Maturity in each sex....no matter what the age.
I have no idea how it grew to be such a complicated part of our Futurities.
I say '86' it.....or fix it.
