I had the exact thing happen with two of my bitches. They got along fine,
for almost 2 years. The problem I had was that both bitches wanted to be MY
right hand dog. If I corrected one girl, the other girl thought she should
help
me. Both are alpha bitches. One day, the girl being corrected by the other
dog, said "No Way"
These girls basically grew up together. One German, one American girl. They
slept in my room and the older girl trained the younger one in manners. The
fight was not major. More of a stand-off. But I will never trust these girls
together again. They sniff noses through the fence. No aggression and seem
like they miss each other. But, I won't take the chance. The older girl is
spayed now. But, I have seen spayed bitches actually be MORE aggressive than
intact bitches.
OTOH, both girls are perfectly fine with their own and each other's bitch
puppies. (pups are 8 and 5 mos old) Sometimes it's just not a good match.
