Thanks to everyone for all the responses. You pretty much confirmed what I
already knew but some times it helps to hear it from others. The overwhelming
conclusion is that spaying will not make a difference and the only way to
ensure this won't happen again is to keep them separate.
BTW this bitch has never been aggressive and is actually very sweet which was
why her attack on the other bitch was so unexpected. She also shares the house
with two other males with no problems at all.
I'm not frustrated with the dog, it's the owner who know's the difficulities in
keeping two bitches in the house and yet won't even consider trying to come up
with an alternative for a problem that she may have very well created herself.
