Sorry...I don't think one can agree or disagree in general. It has to depend on the individual dog. Many dogs are NOT competitive until they are 30 months or so...some are competitive at 18 months, some not. You have to look at the dog, not its birth certificate. Still, I don't like seeing all the dogs that are so up on leg that there is no depth of chest........it may come later, but the judge isn't supposed to be judging on what may or may not happen later...we're supposed to judge on the day. It may be that on any given day an immature or leggy dog is the best in the entry...but the breed isn't supposed to be leggy (last time I read the Standard)...so what's the big rush to show those lanky, leggy, immature dogs?
