Theresa.... handlers charge for traveling with a van full of dogs ( It is a
HUGE responsibility!! ) Many do all the training,
traveling, grooming and care for these dogs until they are finished with their
career as it is their lifestyle and their career for
many of them to travel with a van full of dogs to shows.
HOWEVER others like us always have our dogs with us and travel with us. Since
it is not our work or career, we of course
are not 'compensated' for it....except the sheer fun and excitement of a year
of planning and working finally coming together
to get to a National to compete or just enjoy and observe.
It is a BIG PART OF ALL OF OUR LIVES even though a whole different lifestyle of
attaining our dream and getting there.
You cannot compare the two....but BOTH STYLES ARE A HUGE PART OF WHAT MAKES A
NATIONAL!!
We still do all the training, conditioning, grooming and traveling with our
dogs.. There are many breeder / exhibitors like us
that are a HUGE part of the success of every National. We ALL are what makes
up the National! EAST or WEST!
IT IS OUR NATIONAL!! Or at least it used to be..................sigh.......
Since you think it is easy...I would ask you to book a dog for us in a 700
crate from Sacramento, Ca to St. Louis...and back.
Have you driven for 3 days to get to a National with your dog Theresa??
Would you do that every year and never complain??
Or..... are you just comfy with the site so close to you..... and think we
should pay our dues and accept it also?
Who are we to "blame" for the Club Finances?? Did YOU do something with
the Parent Clubs income Theresa??
We didn't! Do YOU pay into the Parent Club more than your dues and the cost
of the National to help keep it afloat??
The National is one of the biggest Events of the year for all of us....along
with the Futurity/Maturity Finals. A big part of many
of us and our Lifestyle and plans for our competitive dogs...........once.
We all used to get so excited waiting for the new Review....and maybe seeing
our Ad in print. It too was a big part of our lifestyle.
NOW we have a gorgeous magazine that most of us cannot afford to advertise
in.......and look at the size of it now.
NOW we are seeing the beginnings of a National that many of us will not be able
to participate in. Watch the size of it soon
Think about it.......

It is hard on the Handlers to travel with customers dogs so point is let them
be closer to home as it is easier on the dogs too. Members that live in the
West can fly in do most of their dogs not live with the handlers?
The GSDCA needs to recover financially so be patience until it does. Blaming
the board for the finances with members only paying for their membership
expecting them to let the GSDCA go further into debt is
not a plus.
So simple solution let the members that want to rotate chip in with the
finances as their membership just do not pay for rotation
at this time.

Not sure what your point is? I don't see how it makes much difference where
our handlers
live....OR where we live...?
