Two weeks ago there was a clip about Avian Flu on the radio and this morning on
NPR a 30
minute discussion on it
In April, Ottawa Chicken and Turkey farms were affected and most of the states
in the midwest -
a total of 20 states in the USA have affected farms/ranches
The radio show says while they have innoculations they are not totally effective
THe disease can be spread by geese and ducks whose droppings can fall into
ponds as well as
areas where birds are housed - the water can spread it.
The story went on to say that 20% of our exports are affected as other
countries are banning our
birds. Look for the price of eggs and poultry to rise.

It is the worst outbreak ever and Millions and Millions of birds have to be
euthanized. Sorry
Chicken rescue. Nobody wants to kill these birds. People are losing their
livelihoods.
The thought did occur to me that PETA might be behind it
