They slipped this one by us and it may be coming soon to you....
As of tomorrow, all Pit Bulls in LIttle Rock must be neutered, chipped, and
registered with the Humane Society (I didn't quite catch the where). There will
be a pix of your dog and the owner together. After the owner pays $150 per dog,
they are free to enjoy their pets "with certain other restrictions" the newsguy
said on the 6 am news as I was getting ready for work. I don't know what they
are but they did mention that other breeds may follow.
If they include GSDs, I will dress my dogs up in concentration camp pjs and put
a huge Mogan David on them. I will have a tee shirt made up to wear for the
photo. It will say that Hitler has arrived in Little Rock.
I tried to rally the dog folk in LR about 8-9 years ago. They laughed at me,
and the local GSD club threw me out for "spamming" the members when I asked
them to go to a city meeting to protest the MSN being considered.
One voice isn't going to do it.....

this happens everywhere, every day......

I live in WA state and I am a hobby breeder (about 4 litters a year)..I have
been doing this for many years and we have lived in this house for 17 years
with NO problems!
Recently someone, I am not sure who of course, has reported me 2x to animal
control..First time was right after I had a litter of pups, I had not had
any for 6 months! They reported that I had sick puppies out in a kennel not
being cared for.. I don't even have a kennel for crying out loud! So they
come out and I let them in my house which was my first mistake, but I
figured I had nothing to hide, I wasn't doing anything "wrong" (or I
thought)..I wish I had told him to bug off and denied even breeding dogs.
Anyhow, he comes in, wants to see my dogs, they were outside going potty..so
he looked out and saw they looked well (yeah they should after spending
400.00 on grooming a couple days before)..Then wanted to see all my
litters..I laughed and I said, litters? Ok, so I take him in my bedroom and
into my master bath where the pups were all curled up sleeping..In a clean
bed I might add... This was another BAD move because god only knows what he
could have brought into my home on his shoes....
He said well everything looks fine, and I said, well you want my vets name
and number "no, everything looks great"..I said you want my groomers number?
Again he said no everything was fine... So then he tells me I have to have a
"kennel" license...I said but I do not have a kennel, he said if I have over
5 dogs I have to (even if the dogs are altered..HA) ...What a way to get
money aye?!
So I said fine, I will do whatever I have to..So he gives me the number to
call and right after he left I called the auditors office to see about
getting that license.... The woman tells me no problem, are you zoned?????
Am I zoned? For what? She says I have to be zoned to have a "kennel"..OMG
are they insane? Well I call, them and nope, I am not zoned, so I cannot get
a license, so now they say I have to get rid of all my dogs except I can
keep 5..woohoo...
I now have until the end of May..How does one pick and choose..I will admit
I have 10 adult dogs, 4 and altered..I had 16 when they were here (counting
3 pups under 6 months that I just bought)..Since then we had to put our old
girl to sleep due to cancer and several other painful health issues...And I
re-homed some... People tell me I have to many dogs that they could not
handle that many..I say, well you aren't me..and I have SMALL dogs...
Well the other day I am reported again and this time they tell the officer I
said I was a licensed facility...I almost yelled at this guy, (at least he
called me and didn't show up) I was SOOO angry...I told him not only did I
NOT say that to anyone, but I have never said it and I have never had anyone
ask me, had they I would have told them to mind their own business!
However, after this AC officer came out early January I wanted to kind of
snub whoever turned me in..So I wrote on the web site, that after a surprise
visit from animal services he found no problems with our dogs and pups! Well
the person who called gave the officer my web site (WTF) and tells him I am
still breeding (officer knew I had 3 litters due already) and the officer
saw what I wrote on my web site...He tells me I HAVE to remove it NOW! That
I cannot claim to be a licensed facility..
I asked him where it said that on my site...I did not even imply it, I just
wrote down exactly what that idiot said to me at least 3 times while here
"everything looks great"! But he actually threatened to prosecute me!!! Mind
you that was in my voice mail....And then getting him on the phone was
another issue...
I said fine, I will just keep my stud and a couple of females and keep my
numbers under 6 and continue to breed! He then proceeds to tell me on the
phone that I cannot do that, said I cannot sell, trade, barter or GIVE AWAY
any dog or puppy without a license.... I was livid, that made absolute NO
sense...
We live in a small housing development on large lots (up to 1/2 acres), we
are 1/3 of an acre, well actually a little over that..Sounds small I
know..But its the last house on a dead end and no neighbors to bother..We
have them but they don't care and are never home...And I never leave my dogs
outside.. It is very private.. And just across the street is all zoned
commercial and they have huge industrial buildings going up..Yet I am
breaking the law with a handful of dogs..
I am more than willing to get the license, but since we are not zoned I
can't get it..grrr...And I wish we could move, but it's not an option right
now. The ONLY reason they are no in my business after all these years is
because some animal activist got a wild hair up their butt...Come on, it's
not like I am dealing crack here, they are puppies, and very well cared for
at that.
Well I am sorry I went on like that but I am so upset and just don't know
what to do!!
