Yes. I saw the bulletin on the latest IE vulnerability. It is legitimate. But I plan to still use Internet Explorer. However, I am always very careful of the sites I visit. You should not click on links provided in email unless you are sure that they are legitimate. An easy way to verify links in emails is to put your cursor over the link (don't click on it) and see where it actually goes and if it matches the description in the email. I put my cursor over the link in Stormy's email and recognized ZDNET.com so I clicked on it to read the story. Very often, the link will say something like BankofAmerica.com. But if you put your cursor on it, it will display a different link in a foreign country. LOOK CLOSELY--for the WhiteHouse, .gov is correct, but the .com version is not. Also, hackers are sneaky, so look at the LAST name before the .com--bankofamerica.xxxxxx .com is NOT legitimate. It is best practice to have virus and malware software installed on your computer and set it to automatically run virus scans on a daily basis. The best way to remediate the Microsoft vulnerabilities (which happen all the time) is to set Windows Update to automatically patch your computer. I hope this helps :) Peg Graham - http://HessenGSD.com Home of Multiple BISS, Pacific Coast Victrix, #8 GSD in 2012, GCH CH Mariner’s Akaya RN HSAs “Moto” "May I always be the kind of person my dogs think I am." -----Original Message----- From: showgsd-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:showgsd-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Terry Cochran Sent: Wednesday, April 30, 2014 9:31 AM To: Stormy Hope Cc: Showgsd-l Subject: [ SHOWGSD-L ] Re: AOL/YAHOO My question is what is the warning about not using Micro soft explorer? Warning came from Homeland security. Is this real or just a hoax? I tried to download firefox but my computer stopped the down load telling me it had a virus. Anyomne else heard anything about this?
