I think this is a case of the "pot calling the kettle black."
Whenever I go to the dog park and tell people I show my dog, whether it is the
specialty ring or the allbreed ring, they think it is an elitist endeavor.

You are so right, Carolyn and Pauline. I will never understand why some
wins/awards are so denigrated by GSD people, especially all-breed wins/awards.
I do not see that in other breeds. I guess some people need to do that, hence
the reputation of elitism in our breed.
A win is a win is a win. One judge's opinion on a given day. An exceptional
quality dog, lots of luck, and good timing, eh? I am sorry, but, I don't buy
the "hard work" thing. I have NEVER found anything I do with my dogs,
pure-bred or rescues, hard. It is fun, satisfying, and mostly just normal,
good, humane care. The hardest thing I ever do with my pets is say, "Good-bye."
I can understand, and agree with, what Pauline says below about "we all should
support the efforts that are behind all the awards that our dogs achieve.
Some people believe that some are greater than others, that is okay, it is
their opinion." But, when people directly representing the GSDCA disrespect
and insult other awards, even demanding that a GSDCA member not use AKC awards
in advertising or even in brags, there is a serious problem and NO support for
GSDCA club members, as you are advocating. Perhaps the people in authority in
our PC need some of these lectures.
Congrats to all who passed their TC's this past month. That is one of my
favorite GSDCA programs.
What a fun, interesting, and controversial sport we compete in. Some for many
years, some for just a little while, as I now understand more than I used to!!
Do not, anyone, take this post as demeaning or insulting to Carolyn's brag on
Bo, nor to ANY GSDCA award or title. I watched Bo at the shows attaining her
championship; I watched her go GVx. She is not a great black bitch, she is a
great bitch, period. My heartfelt congratulations, Carolyn. Bo deserves all
of her titles and awards. I never mean any disrespect to any awards, from Best
Puppy to CGC to GV to AOE, I only have a very serious problem with those GSDCA
Committee people hurting and insulting members regarding the wins and awards
earned by their dogs. I have been asked to start a petition to present at the
Annual Meeting to remove these abusive people from their Committee seats. I
don't think I should be the one to have to do this. I firmly believe that the
GSDCA should start policing their own, those abusive people that steal money,
thunder, or respect from others. JMHO, of course.

CONGRATULATIONS! Carolyn and Bo! GV is hardly just a BOB; neither is
BIS, just a BOB. However, being awarded a BOB is worthy of congratulations
as well; each is an achievement and should be supported by those of us who
engage in such activities. You (generic) do not belittle a CD award, just
because you (generic) have achieved an UDX on your dog. You encourage and
support and congratulate them, it does not diminish your UXD, when someone
is bragging on a CD does it? I agree with you, we all should support the
efforts that are behind all the awards that our dogs achieve. Some people

I believe that anytime we work hard and spend time and money to achieve
awards on our dogs it is all good! I have yet to see one award become more
important by the diminishment of another one! Quite frankly, that in my
opinion is bad sportsmanship...I think some people are silly, other people
