[ SHOWGSD-L ] AKC breeder of Merit

As far as I know, any GSD who reaches the age of 12, and belongs to a
member of the GSDCA, can become a member of the 13 club. IT REUIRES NO TITLES.
and I care a lot about coming a BREEDER OF MERIT. So please don't include
me in with the people who you think don't care. and if the ARA come a
knocking, others might care also. Something needs to set us aside as
Breeders, from Puppy Mill Breeders. A distinction that is getting harder and
harder to make.

Something is sent between the OFA and the AKC as to which dog has been
tested for their TC. Once that has been accomplished, then the dog receives
it's CHIC #. That's the way it worked for my bitch.
I too am totally appalled that the requirements for a CHIC were lowered.
Especially when I make note of all the various dog's titles for the 13
club. I think it's important that a dog is tested for certain items, but
one does not have to get carried away with it either. Not many people seem
to care about going for a Breeder of Merit award. To do all the various
tests take too much time and money. But somewhere in there, there needs to
be a happy medium and not hand out the CHIC # to anything that comes down
the pike. JMHO
