I didn't know that tidbit of history- TY
I do know that the WV is also an FCI breed long before becoming over the pond
and coming into the AKC FSS; I think because they were unknown to the states
previously and of course weren't already registered with AKC as something else,
unlike the position the white coated GSD is in.
Kinda like apples & oranges on that one, just my humble thinking there.
The UKC also registers the WV with full privileges for a number of years.
FWIW, it seems to me as pretty much EVERY new AKC breed in recent years (say 15
or so) was a UKC registered *ONLY* breed in so far as being with an "all-breed
registry" (as many breeds kept their own registries that EVERY member breeder
used for EVERY dog and EVERY litter [unlike with the AWSA registry, as the
thought was/is (as told to me by many) that ppl want to have AKC papers, but
people are perfectly willing to not get AKC papers when it's not an AKC breed
at all; I know from experience there], and the UKC has allowed new breeds from
those registries as well).
I don't know what's with the Mini Aussie however- again, an excellent place
where AKC should open up for varieties within breeds again, but we all know
that's just a financial move on the part of the AKC and show superintendents,
and varieties need their own set of ribbons, judges' books, etc., so I don't
see THAT happening since they are corporations first!
JP&P thinking many would be happy having a variety within the GSD
