I've never heard of anybody asking Shepherds to spar. For those who don't know better...sparring has nothing at all to do with fighting or "getting ugly." A terrier judge who never spars dogs is not a knowledgeable terrier judge. None of which has anything to do with a judge who thinks two Shepherds might get into it in the ring. For all anyone knows, it may have happened the last time he or she judged the breed... overall I think it was a stupid comment and I can't believe anyone actually made it...unless it was at some rare breed show.
