Sheri, the Administration is sensitive to your concerns, and to the fact
that Showgsd-l exists specifically to support=20
breeders, exhibitors and judges of American-Canadian lines in
AKC/GSDCA/CKC/GSDCC venues. In recent years there has been a great deal =
of
outcrossing done with import lines within our group, the GSDCA-WDA has
evolved, and therefore the lines are not quite as bright as they used to =
be.
However, you are right that what this List is about is the
AKC/GSDCA/CKC/GSDCC style of showing, and the AKC/GSDCA/CKC/GSDCC style =
of
dog. That has not changed, nor will it ever change. We too remember =
how
and why this List came into existence, and we continually work to =
maintain
it in that exact spirit.
I posted Christi's application to see if anyone on the List knows her, =
to
act as her sponsors and to vouch for the fact that she is in fact =
interested
in learning about American and Canadian dogs and shows, and if so, she =
too
would need to understand that that is the express purpose of Showgsd-l. =
If
there is not a fit, either with this lady or other applicants, their
applications are not accepted since, as you quite rightly observed, =
there
are lists which exist specifically for the purpose of supporting German =
and
Import lines.
Never fear - promoting personal preferences for imported lines or
non-AKC/GSDCA/CKC/GSDCC competition is not, nor will it become, =
acceptable
on Showgsd-l.

the SV style of showing, not a member of the GSDCA, but USA, SV, WDA =

know is a part of the parent club). Its easy to say yes to all of the=20
stipulations required to join, then once in try to promote their =
personal=20
preferences. I didn't join this list to wade through all of the warring
e-mails on the=20
German vs American line threads, but to talk about the style of showing =
I=20
prefer... AKC. I am one of the founding members of this list, coming =
over
from=20
the first list created that fell apart from bickering. I have been in
Colorado,=20
ACTIVELY showing and involved with the specialty shows our club (Rocky=20
Mountain GSDC) has put on every year since I joined in 1990, including =
show
chair=20
several times. Not once have I seen this person (kennel) show in our =
shows
or=20
in the all breed shows that I have attended. They state that they have =
been
involved in local, regional, national and soon to be world shows, but I
don't=20
think it is the AKC style. I see many applications from people with =
their
first=20
German Shepherd, that want to learn more about the breed and maybe even =
show
their dog, and that is wonderful, I hope they enjoy the list and get bit =
by=20
that great bug called "showing". But I just don't understand why =
someone
who has=20
chosen to show the SV style of dog, with strictly German/Import lines =
wants=20
to join our list. Its really not being narrow minded or prejudiced, =
because=20
there are a bunch of lists on the internet that consist of members =
involved
with=20
exactly that style of showing, along with working lists, obedience =
lists,
even=20
people who love their pets and aren't interested in showing. People, =
this=20
list is about breeding and showing in the AKC/CKC venue. Period. Sorry
guys,=20
this is how I feel... join the list that has your best interest at =
heart,=20
whatever that may be. I'm on the one that is mine.
