Unfortunately, this is true. When I first saw vicious things posted about me,
I momentarily thought about withdrawing - that my good name was not a price I
was willing to pay, even to help the GSDCA. But, on reflection, I realized
that Jake, Lee, Carolyn and the others who have posted about this today are
right - if any candidate is pushed out of the race because of these ugly
tactics, it means that the tactics worked !! That is the exact wrong result.
The right answer is to continue, and to let the people spreading lies and
dishonor show themselves for what they are. It is upsetting to me to see these
things, it is upsetting to the other candidates, even those not the subject of
the attacks.
I have spoken to a number of the other candidates - all agree. No one can
allow this to work - and no one will.
Do keep in mind, those of you inclined to mud-slinging, insults, personal
attacks, etc., that you are doing damage to the GSDCA, to the morale of its
members, and to its future. It needs us all, every one of us, whether we win,
or whether we lose. Do we want people who might in the future to consider
running for office to hesitate or to refuse because they are unwilling to be
trashed ? Astounding that it has come to this.....!!
Common goals, good will, camraderie are supposed to be the point of membership
in the GSDCA - all for the purpose of perpetuation and enjoyment of our
wonderful breed. There is a clear way to stamp out evil rumors, personal
attacks, nasty comments, paranoia and accusation - close your ears (and eyes)
to it. When someone tries to tell you ugly things, refuse to listen. Don't
provide an audience.
The List Management will also be discussing measures to deal with this
situation. As Tom said in his post, the List has become very important to the
Fancy - and we owe it to the Fancy not to permit the List to be the downfall of
the GSDCA or of the democratic process.

As long as this world which we call our universe has been existence there
has always been good and evil. Most of the time these "bad apples" appear
when the good ones are the most vulnerable and go in "for the kill". We all
have seen this happen time and again. It will make us stronger in the
interum and should not not keep us from our goal.
