Barbara,
I was e-mailed a few months ago by a man that wanted to breed his white
bitch to one of my studs. I was very nice, but told him that I bred to the
standard and whites were disqualified and I would not do the breeding. I
have also been approached over the years by locals wanting to breed their
pets to one of my studs. Of course they call when she's ready to be bred.
First I explain about the testing that must be done prior to their bitch coming
into heat, including hip and elbow x-rays. They have no clue what I am even
talking about. Then I hit them with an outrageous stud fee quote if they
continue. At that point they usually say good-bye. I really try to educate
them about genetic testing and being responsible for those puppies they
produce. I hope they listen.
