In the years of managing a stud dog, I think I sent one bitch back that I
couldn't even get out of her crate when she arrived. I had some bitches
bred to Bull that "I" wouldn't deem as sound, but many would not think it a
problem. However, bred to Bull, the temperaments in the progeny were
dramatically improved. I think you may have confused ear sets with hanging
ears. Hanging ears are a DQF..bad ear placement is not.Hanging ears can be
difficult to correct if it is a prevalent trait in a certain line. My
question was..does everyone have the right to improve, even when those
improvements might be DQF's..and how do we pick and choose which DQF's are
"OK" and which are not. If we see dogs or bitches that attempt to bite the
judge and we breed to them or breed them, how is this different that
breeding a white dog?How is 1 DQF..better than another DQF..I am being the
Devil's advocate here. I would bet that "white or off color dogs" are
considered more of an issue than hanging ears, seriously poor temperament,
a short tail or even and undershot bite. I would again wager that of all
the DQF's I have listed many would not think twice about breeding a bitch
that displayed anyone of the later 4 DQ I listed, and most wouldn't breed
their bitch to a dog that had 3 out of the later 4 I mentioned..we already
know many breed to seriously poor temperament without batting an eye, even
when their bitches demonstrate the same poor temperament!Again, I am not
advocating that anyone breed an animal that exhibits a DQF, but why is
"color" the one everyone gasps at and treats with disdain when all should
be treated equally? C
