I attended the board meeting today.
I have to say,it was the best group of a board I have ever seen, and I have
seen a lot of them.
I sort of felt like it was the new regime getting over what the old boards
did, for the better of the members.
From the first issue, Gary made it clear, the intent of this board was going
to be what is good for the membership, and they never missed a point. I
don't think I should say what was done, a board-o-gram will come out as soon
as possible, another issue the board made clear.
For the first time I was asked to help with the WDA law suit. It was filed
in 2015, and no one ever asked me to help. It is in the Los Angeles court,
where I appear at least one time a week. It is going to mediation, (where the
parties will try to find a resolution), and now that I am involved, that is
what I am going to do. Thank you to the board for giving me this assignment.
it is what I do. Lamar Fredricks had pulled a copy of the club's
incorporation papers from New York. The agent for process, for any litigation
is me. But today is the first time anyone asked me to help. I am pleased to
do so.
The other thing that inspired me is that this board voted to do what John
DeHope did before he died. He left a sum of money to the German Shepherd
Rescue. For reasons I won't go into, it has been sitting in our treasury. Our
new board voted to turn it over as John wished. I was a close friend of
John's and I knew what he wanted to do, and what his will said. I also was
the person who incorporated Rescue for the club, so this was a fantastic move
of our board.
Again, I have to say the tone, the direction and the mood is greater than
ever, and I am very optimistic for the future of the GSDCA. Gary said
something that I am not sure everyone heard, but I did. It started to get off
track and he said; "Lighten up, this is for fun".
We are lucky to have this combination of board members, and a great leader
for the years ahead.
