[ SHOWGSD-L ] Re: A list of Judges?

Some of you may know there are several "lists" out there in cyberdom
that exist mainly to discuss judges--not just what the judge seems to
like, but his or her manner with the dogs, judging procedure or lack
thereof, etc. The best of these lists also discusses show sites,
various club conditions (like the way exhibitors are treated), and many
things that have to do with showing dogs but not necessarily the judges.
Of course, all these are all-breed lists, altho they do seem to go in
spates...sometimes only judges for one breed are discussed ad nauseum
until the topic changes.....
It is interesting to see how silly some of the comments are. Yes,
the winners almost always think the judge walks on water, and the people
who didn't win think the judge is an ignorant SOB...........every now
and then, and those times are rare, there is a valid and valuable
comment on a particular judge. What's really wild is that some of these
comments come from people who don't even name the right judge - I've
read about my own judging in Canada (never judged there, not to this
very day) and about someone else I know who was vilified for the bad job
she did in Washington State on the same day she was busy owner handling
dogs at shows in New Jersey! Can't believe all you read, you know, and
only half of what you see.
By and large, if you are looking for information on a specific
judge, you can't believe what you get on these lists. Best you go and
see for yourself. At least ask someone you know well who also knows
your dog and the dogs they're going to talk about!
