To the question of writing for a problem ordinance/bill from another state:
It never hurts. It only backfired at one time from this one council member
from a small town in CA a few years back. Even though GSDCA had members there,
and I was writing on behalf of those members, this smart a** council member
wrote back to every person who wrote him from out of his town that he didn't
want their suggestions, opinions or ideas.
Other than that, throwing in a comment about friends in the town/state,
visiting the town/state, going to *think* about visiting the town/state gives
your letter credence.
During the AB1634 (s/n the whole states' dog population), people were sending
their friends from other states zip codes and addresses to add to their
letters. I don't know if I would approve of that, but
..
Short answer
yes, please write, even though you don't live there. Some
politicians even like the fact that they are getting attention nationwide <G>
