We lost a lovely young dog just over a year ago who was only 6 years old. In about a three month period she was fine, then started stumbling, then was dragging her rear. Our vet is a orthopedic specialist and had never seen it before. He would not diagnose her with DM, because of the anomaly of the disease although the symptoms were similar. Her x-rays showed massive arthritic changes in the hips and rear portion of the spine over a short period of time. Her diet did not change and we have no idea what the trigger was, it just started happening and progressed rapidly until she could no longer walk. Vet theorized it was some genetic anomaly that he could give no name or case histories for. In other words, I wish I knew and had an answer for you. I wonder why also... so does my vet. My body is a mystery to my doctor too..... Dave ============================================================================ POST is Copyrighted 2005.
