Even as the breeder there may be a reason you can't take actual possession
of the dog, but you can do all in your power to find it a place.
I knew a poodle breeder that was in a nursing home and could not take the
dog back, but she worked and found that dog a safe place to go.

yes, it can. BUT, what amy was alluding to was a dog you bred - if you
can't always make a home for that dog, don't bring it into the world. (and
that's a generic "you" - applies to all of us).
