I think every dog person is a judge. We all judge our own dogs or the
breeding programs of the people we buy our dogs from. We all judge how our
dogs stack up to the Standard and to the competition because if we do not,
we just waste our money and become frustrated. We judge the judges,
selecting who to show to and who not to - both in performance and
conformation.
Someone started a conformation class one time with the following questions.
The catch was that you couldn't look at the Standard before you answered!
I offer the questions to the group for discussion this cold Saturday
afternoon (at least here in the frozen north). No peeking!
1) What are the correct proportions of length to height?
2) How many disqualifying faults are there? Name at least 3.
3) Approximately how much of the length of the dog should be in the back
(e.g. 25%, 50%, etc.)
4) Name the 2 VERY SERIOUS faults.

You do not know what events the Total Dog Award refers to?
Your right every judge is different good and bad and they
can place a dog first one day and not the next with same
dogs out there.

There are good and poor judges in both venues (as in all life )
