[ SHOWGSD-L ] A Crisis in Georgia....

I spoke with Suzanne Royal this morning; the volunteer for the Chatooga
County Shelter in Summerville Georgia. I contacted her regarding a neutered
male GSD that is there, and was slated for euthanization via IP injection this
morning. We are committed to saving this boy and a rescue is in the works.
However, Suzanne informed me that this particular facility does NOT feed its
animals unless she is able to negotiate food for them! Moreover, they have
three calendar days to find rescue/permanent home before they are euthanized.
This means if a dog comes in late on Monday afternoon, by 8 am on Wednesday, he
is euthanized! This gives Suzanne NO time to take photos and make rescue
connections!
WHAT is the problem in this state!!! Have the lines of humanity been
erased???
In NYC and in Massachusetts if an owner fails to provide food and shelter for
their companion animals, it constitutes a charge of animal cruelty...in some
extreme instances, even mandatory jail time!
There are puppies in this hell hole...as young as 6 weeks old who are hungry
because the facility is NOT providing nutrition for them! Where is the moral
outrage???!!??
If you are a Georgia resident, PLEASE....write your Congressman, Mayor,
Governor, USDA representative, and Commissioner (who has turned a deaf ear to
Suzannes pleadings).
There needs to be some NATIONAL recognition of the depth of cruelty that is
ongoing in SO MANY facilities throughout the US.
