Hi Linda,
I certainly agree with you--as long as you have kennel help etc.. I hope you
have insight to those kennels that have all the care etc.. Many of our friends
do but many folks we all know do not and do not care.

  Subject: 8 litters

There are breeders who do exceed the 8 litters. If we stated "8 litters at
their property"- some people would simply find a way around the system and
claim a litter was born elsewhere. Then we would have something else to attack
on the list. (ha ha).

I can think of a few prominent breeders through the years who would exceed 8.
These breeders contributed a great deal to our breed. These kennels had a
staff and the puppies had excellent care. With a few exceptions, most would
tell you that the costs far outweighed the profits- it was not an endeavor as a
business venture. They never considered themselves "commercial" because it was
a passion for the breed, the monetary benefit was marginal or a loss.

Yes, a few breeders make money at this. Those "breeders" also put some
quality animals in our rings and gene pools. Yes, we have breeder/handlers who
make a profit. There are owners out there enjoying campaigning and owning
these dogs.

I don't really care how many litters any one kennel churns. So long as the
care for the dogs is stellar. If you are willing to properly staff the help and
give wonderful care, so be it.
