However, I do remember our first year at the National Guard Armory in Elgin
when 1) it rained, and it rained, and it flooded; and then 2) the
temperature dropped and it dropped; and then 3) all that rain froze and it
froze; and then 4) it snowed
That was the time I was whelping my first litter and the heat and
electricity went out. The ice was so thick on the windows, you couldn't see
out. It was freezing in the house and I was petrified the puppies would
freeze to death without a working heat lamp. I was nervous enough about the
impending delivery without the additional stress of no heat. Luckily, my
wonderful bitch waited until the power was restored before I saw the feet of
the first puppy. I will never forget that day!

Nah, I don't remember anything prior to the Lisle Naperville Hilton - I was
so young back then (sigh . . . )
Our son called from Wyoming late this morning to tell me that the actual
temperature was 25 BELOW zero, and to top it off they had 30-mile an hour
winds. So . . . 8 degrees doesn't seem all that bad!

Any how, woke up to get ready for the show, headed outside to go walk dogs.
Opened the door in time to watch a portion of the hotel roof come off and
crush a Jeep two spots away from where our van was parked. Glass was flying
all over the place from the Jeeps windows, I turned around and hollared at
the room mates to grab everything, as the remains of roof waved in the wind
poised to land on our Van and the other vehicles in the parking lot. We
rushed out of room lickity split to get on out of there. As we were backing
up in the Van, a couple that must have been in one of the rooms on the
upper floor where the roof came off began running down the landing in their
scivies carrying there belongings. That was enough for us, we lit up the
tires on our way out of there. Boy was that close.
