It is an interesting change, and one to consider. Yes, those who have the
money could enter their dog under all 9 futurities and compete until they
win. Now, few have that kind of money, but it is an interesting new concept.
I remember showing with Ralph and Mary Roberts. Mary told me about their
dogs who won without ever beating another German shepherd. How did she do
that? She went all over the country, and entered all-breed shows, and won
groups, and being the only German shepherd entered came out of the shepherd
ring being the only one there. At first I was appalled, then realized, it
was just another way to show dogs.
Times change and you young people will have to change with them.
Futurities no longer are a showcase for breeders. It is a competition to win a
place
in the Red Book, and make it to the National to compete. Deal with it.
Me, I don't have to change. I just sit back, have another red pop, and
enjoy the chaos. And, try to get a few bucks for the Juniors.
