Thank you Jeff! There are positives and negatives to change in any venue.
Some will agree and some will not.
Look at things from another view....the dog that gets in the ring and
decides not to show....or decides in the ring to limp.....or needs to take a
poop and won't until after the class can have a do over if the owner is so
inclined. If that dog is shown in a different region, different people get
to see him and what his sire and dam produced, which is a good thing! If
a dog wins a class, but not Best/BOS or reserve, yes, the owner could decide
to show him again....Would the owners in the second region pull because he
had already won a class? Not necessarily....That doesn't happen at regular
shows when the same dogs are shown in the same classes over a multiple show
circuit.
The futurity committee was asked to suggest ways to increase participation,
and these changes are an effort to do just that. They may or may not help,
but as Jeff says, let's give them a chance. To the ones who are so negative
about futurities (more on Facebook than on this list)...we get it. You
think it's all about politics and the folks with lots of money. Well....we
hope that the 2017 Futurities will be exciting, fun, educational, and that
you might just change your mind....a little anyway!

There are reasons not to embrace some changes but I believe there are more
reasons TO embrace them or at least give them a chance.
We have to come up with ideas and implement them. Some will work. Some
won't. Let's give these and chance and see.

2017 Futurity/Maturity Updates!
The GSDCA Board approved three major changes to the Futurity/Maturity shows
for 2017.
o7 Staggered closing dates. Entries for each region will close
approximately three weeks prior to the show weekend.
o7 Dogs/bitches may be entered and shown in as many regions as desired
UNTIL they win Best In,
Best Opposite or Reserve.
o7 Show Secretary services will be done by Foy Trent Dog Shows.
REMINDER: For entry into in the Futurity/Maturity shows, at least one owner
must be a member of the GSDCA. Be sure you have that person's GSDCA member
number as it will be needed for the entry form this year.
The official premium will be out soon, but in the mean time I will copy and
paste info on show dates, closing dates, judges etc. to an additional post
to the list. We are also in the process of getting the info for the GSDCA
website streamlined and updated, so please be patient!
For list members who are new to conformation and or the GSDCA, a post with a
simplified explanation of the Futurity/Maturity system is on the way! If
