I want to go a bit further. In thinking, not in travel.
I don't like a National where I go home at night. I like to travel to a
place where I can sit with Bob at the announcer's table, do my Blog, see my
friends, see some great German shepherds and show my dogs.
Move us to a place where I can fly in my dog. Have the National at a
place where I can drive in a day, or maybe two. Have the national where the
airlines take a 500 crate and have direct flights. Until then, there will be
no dogs shown from our home.
While the facilities at St. Louis are great for those who can drive in,
they are terrible for those who have to try to fly a dog to Chicago or Kansas
City then drive in.
I know the club has to have a healthy treasury, but the consideration of
the members has to count for something. In looking at the figures it seems
we started down this road with the World Trials. Someone should have
listened then, enough said it was a fiasco to try to support them. Then the
WDA
and now the SV are dragging down our finances. The SV is a lot bigger than
we are, why are we losing money just to maintain our position? I don't see
the SV inviting the GSDCA to show there, and they pay for us.
Conformation, obedience, herding all earn money. We have always made money
on the GSDCA Nationals, but lost on the SV and WDA involvement.
It is not hard to see the club is losing sight of what it is formed to do.
That is to benefit its members and to serve the breed.
We are failing to do that. It is time our Board got back to what they
should do, and stop bickering over other issues.
