The shows aren't until Oct/Nov. 2013 and this is 2009. I do believe 4 years is
good notice.

I am not against these trials. Not that it matters whether we are against
them or not, as it seems some already committed to club to it.
I am against the poor execution of communication to the membership when
some are ready to spend A LOT OF MONEY of the club, and no one has presented a
good plan as of yet.
I haven't seen any announcements in the Review, or with the Ballots. No
flyers, no emails. And this has been in the plans for several years now?
Boy, is this ever a wake up call.
It is wonderful to be the host of any event that showcases the German
Shepherd Dog. I just think it is outrageous to be talking about the regular
expenses of the National, plus a quote of over $75,000 for the Centennial,
plus over $250,000 for the World Trial. You cant be cavalier and say "so
what,is just money." The big majority of our members think that it is A LOT
OF MONEY. Some of us work for a living.
Think about the Holidays. Dec 21st. You are very busy, doing all the
consuming tasks of the holidays, and suddenly, you are the host for a very
large party the day after Christmas. No one gives you any details, no one
tells you what your budget is, or if you are going to get help with that
budget. Just that "it should be an honor" to host this very cumbersome
event.
With short notice. That's what I think members are having a hard time
dealing with.
There is room to be concerned. Hopefully this wont end up costing the Club
and the members more than we can all afford. This has nothing to do with
pride, I am proud of every sound GSD, in every facet of the sport, and
regardless of where they come from. This is about MONEY. And who is playing
with the house money?
Some clubs may have a little bit in their coffers. How will they benefit
from donating away what little they have? Honor doesn't pay the bills for
their next shows. Or help support the local members in need.
Yes, it is awesome to showcase all aspect of the breed. Lets start with
those we, the GSDCA, are involved with. Lets showcase herding, agility,
obedience, tracking, rally......I bet you we wouldn't spend anywhere close
$300,000 to do that.
I emailed a bunch of questions 2 days ago, and still no answers. Lots of "I
think". Lots of "maybes". Lots of "we should feel good and honored", but
no concrete answers.
It almost feels like this was a rushed decision, with very poor follow
thru. We penalize that in the ring <G>
