AKC judges mostly want you to show the teeth...last AKC show, the judge wanted
me to open her mouth like a alligator!! Which was a first. Angela

You will really enjoy the UKC shows I think! There are many people across many
breeds who show in both AKC & UKC. The atmosphere is a bit more relaxed- no
paid handlers are allowed so that takes quite a bit of stress off! Most dogs
are owner handled or breeder handled in UKC.
GSDs are judged a bit differently in UKC: less emphasis is placed on side
gait; coming & going is equally important in movement as side gait is. An
adult dog will not do well if they do not allow the complete exam- however,
most UKC judges have the exhibitor show the bite & teeth, then move on to going
over the dog.
While the classes are different (pay attention so you end up in the right
one!), once you are in the ring it's just about like any other conformation
show.
