They are lying. You do not have to use their ins. doctors at all. If you are
not in network, just bill their insurance company first, then get denials.
Submit the to the auto insurance will your bill. They have to pay you then.
If not they may have a possibile bad faith suit on their hands..

Helle, I think you're right. We've done it the way you describe in the past
and the insurance co actually required the denial from the out of network
health insurance before they would pay the claim.

A patient of mine has Excess Med pay with AAA.
With regards to her health insurance, I am NOT part of her group / network.
AAA claims adjuster told her that she MUST use her medical group
doctors in order for them to pay the excess portion.
I was under the impression that I could bill the medical group (that I
am not a member of) get a denial and send that along with a bill to
AAA for payment?
Am I mistaken?
