Looks like the right idea to me.

Both SASS and LESS have Ruby-based terminal compilers. But they are just that - compilers. As long as the end CSS results are the same, the compiling can be done with anything... Seedit's text handling could do it behind the scenes with no need for a ruby-based compiler.

But do consider following the file types they use - .less, and .scss

Ideally, developers could open their existing files in Seedit, and just compile them.
