Seadogs... a little research into this TWIC tells me they are all across the
board on this. Big $$ involved so it won't be simple. Basically it seems to
me the lead case is a replacement for the MMD... except everyone in the
"transportation industry" will need one, truckers, pipline workers,
longshoremen ... How they plan to do this is TBD. There is some scaning
technology that a biometeric device will match the ID to the individual ( by
fingerprint or retinal scan). Each time you use the card, like to sign-on,
big brother knows and it's posted to the national transportation database.
The database COULD not only hold all of your shipping (employment) data, but
all of your training data too.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has awarded a contract to
field-test various technologies that will lead to a common and universally
recognized Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC). When
operational, the TWIC will be used by all U.S. transportation workers
requiring unescorted access to secure areas of transportation facilities,
including vessels.

When did we become the bad guys????
