Khandelwal to head Dena, Singh moves on to UBI SAMIK DASGUPTA TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2003 04:33:04 AM ] NEW DELHI: The appointments board in the finance ministry, for banks and financial institutions, that met on Thursday has cleared two names ? AK Khandelwal for chairman and managing director (CMD) of Dena Bank and Prakash Singh for CMD, United Bank of India (UBI). At present, Mr Khandelwal is the executive director of Bank of Baroda, while Mr Singh is the executive director of Punjab and Sindh Bank. The appointments board has also cleared three more names ? YS Thorat for the post of managing director, Nabard; Ashok Kini as managing director of SBI; and SP Roy as executive director, Bank of Baroda (BoB). Mr Roy was earlier stated to go as managing director, Nabard. Mr Thorat has been a general manager rank official looking after RBI Governor?s office, while Mr Kini has been heading the technologies department of SBI. RBI governor YV Reddy heads the appointments board. The other members in the board are finance secretary DC Gupta; secretary, financial services, NS Sisodia; joint secretary Shekhar Agarwal; former chairman of Nabard, Kutaiya; former pro-vice chancellor of Delhi University, Abbas Ahmed; and KJ Udeshi, DG, RBI.
