SBI gives Rs 8.51 cr for relief fund

A K Purwar, Chairman, State Bank of India, called on the Prime =
Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and handed over a cheque for Rs.8.51 crore =
on behalf of SBI and its seven Associates as contribution to the Prime =
Minister's National Relief Fund.=20
As a responsive corporate citizen, State Bank Group has been =
actively involved in community service activities and has also regularly =
contributed to various funds for relief and rehabilitation operations of =
the government on account of natural calamities and other emergencies.=20
This year, the State Bank Group contributed the handsome amount of =
Rs.8.51 crore out of its profits to Prime Minister's National Relief Fund =
to enable the government to undertake relief measures for the benefit of =
people living below the poverty line and those that have been affected by =
floods and drought in different parts of the country, a press release =
said.=20
