Hi! I'm the Program Specialist and Day Camp Director with the Girl Scouts of
Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. I was wondering if you could post a
volunteer opportunity for me. We hold day camps when Spokane Schools are closed
to provide affordable but educational care to girls from low income families
who may not be able to take time off of work. Our second week of Winter Day
Camp is astronomy themed, and we need 'experts' to help run fun activities with
our girls in the afternoons. Volunteers would be here for 2.5 hours from
12:30-3:00 to help teach concepts of astronomy like phases of the moon, why we
have seasons, make scale models of the solar system, or how spectroscopes work.
We'd work with volunteers to plan and support, but mostly we need passionate,
knowledgeable, nerdy type folks who can infect our girls with intellectual
curiosity! Dates would be January 2, 3, or 4, 2018. I'd really appreciate your
help in spreading the word about this opportunity!
